Along with all the other shifts happening in the world today, so many of us are shifting our family and relationship roles -- and the role of Father is no exception. Pardon the generalizations, but the historical job of "bringing home the bacon" is more and more melding with the understanding that "love is the bread of life, and hearts know the difference between crumbs and a whole loaf!" As so many men already know, fathering is not only about being provider and patriarch, but being an integral part of the heart and soul of family -- something usually associated with the role of mothering. And speaking of that, fathering is not restricted to gender or biology -- it belongs to anyone in any moment who strives to balance leading with loving, teaching with learning, providing with participating, decision-making with collaboration, acquisition with generosity -- and well, you get the picture!
