TERAH COX, author, poet and long-time lyric writer, contributes most of the
messages and some of the design work for the Milestones Poetry Cards. Terah's
realization that it wasn't just about what she wrote, but why, has enabled her
to work in different writing mediums throughout her life. “Writing gives me a
way to learn, a way to siphon timeless and universal truths -- using all the
love and skill I can muster. For at the heart of it, it's not about writing
-- it's about loving the thing you seek enough to listen to it when it comes
to you -- and then, to love it so much that you are utterly compelled to share
it.” Terah's first professional “job” as a writer was as a staff lyricist
signed to Columbia Pictures Music. She went on from there to BMG Songs,
Warner-Chappell Music and several European music publishers to write English
lyrics for foreign recording artists. During the course of her songwriting
career, she has had over 150 songs recorded by numerous artists for CDs, film
and television. Her experience as a songwriter led to the publication of her
first book, an inspirational how-to guide for songwriting and the music
business entitled You Can Write Song Lyrics (Writers Digest Books 2000).
While all that was going on, her long-time interest in the world's spiritual
paths and traditions led to her second book, Birth Angels (Andrews McMeel Pub.
2004), which introduces the 72 Angels of the Tree of Life and a multi-
traditioned Renaissance Kabbalah discovered in Spain among excavated
manuscripts in 1975. Her third book, The Story of Love & Truth, released in
December 2006 as a handcrafted limited edition, is a fable about togetherness,
purpose and the fulfillment of our truest selves, and which Terah says is “the
culmination of a lifelong lesson about how truth without love is never a whole
truth.” Terah's books, poetry and other creations are featured in the Heaven
& Earth Works line of greeting cards and poetry products which are available
in a number of galleries and specialty shops across the country. Her
education includes a Double B.A. in English and Spanish Literatures at Eastern
Kentucky University and Hunter College in NY, a “half-Masters” in Poetry at
New York University, plus two years of design study at New York's Fashion
Institute. She moonlights as a creativity mentor and speaker/workshop
facilitator, and she lives in a small Hudson Highlands village of New York.

"Gittel is one of those artists who bridges the past and the future by using the power of the present to illuminate the eternal." And as her love for the life shimmering in each thing and moment is captured by the eye of her lens, we are called to see not only what she sees - but we are invited to see, and be present, in that timeless way which feels like a gift to our souls. ELAINE SPATH BERKUN was an oil and watercolor artist whose landscapes are featured in our “SEASONS OF LIVING” Gallery. Elaine's passion for landscapes came from a childhood love of nature when she would spend countless hours exploring the fields and woods. When she began painting as a young adult, this love was maintained through her formal training as a studio artist and her 30-year career in art during which her work was exhibited in galleries on Cape Cod, Florida and in the Albany, NY area where she lived. In describing her work, she said, “I'm interested in mystery and subtlety, the playing of one shape against another….the infinite variety of colors and textures existing in the most ordinary landscapes.” During 20 years of her later adulthood when she was bedridden with a difficult illness, she celebrated her lifelong love of nature by capturing the changing beauties of the seasonal landscapes outside her bedroom window. Elaine gave many paintings away to friends and family, colleagues and helpers during her life. Some of the cards featured in her gallery depict paintings that her family was able to locate and photograph, and Milestones Poetry Cards is honored to showcase these select pieces of her work.
